Matching the footsteps of rival Netflix, Amazon is also offering 4K video streaming content for the users through certain movies and television shows on its Prime Instant Video Service, or Ultra HD.
The 4K video will offer users with content that is four times the number of pixels as standard full High Definition for highly clear images.
In a statement, Amazon Digital Video Vice President Michael Paull said, “We want to deliver the best entertainment experience and offering Ultra HD movies and TV shows raises the bar on quality and innovation that customers have come to expect from Amazon.”
In April this year, Netflix has rolled out 4K video streaming for its users at USD 3 per month more than its standard streaming plan.
Unlike Netflix, the Amazon users won’t require to pay any extra charge to view its awesome high-resolution content. The users can enjoy the high definition video in an Amazon Prime membership. But the only thing that you need is a pricey 4K TV set to view it.
In the Amazon’s list of 4K-ready content comes: Amazon original series Alpha House and Transparent, Sony flicks such as American Hustle, After Earth, Crouching Tiger, Captain Phillips, This Is the End and Hidden Dragon.
Besides, the Amazon list will also include, BBC concert “Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek LIVE! Plus, thriller Orphan Black, Amazon’s new lineup of shows like Bosch, Mozart in the Jungle, The After, Hand of God and Red Oaks, that are making debut later this year and 2105.
