Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is all set to enter the US market with the launch of its first online store, but the red-hot Asian company will not be introducing its low-cost Android smartphones for the American consumers.

The announcement in this regard was made by Xiaomi global vice president Hugo Barra during a press conference on Thursday. Barra has recently left his job at search engine giant Google overseeing Android devices.

Mi.com, Xiaomi’s online store primarily targeted to US consumers, will begin selling the smartphone accessories, including Mi Band wearables, Xiaomi external battery pack and Xiaomi’s new headphones.

According to the company, the affordable Xiaomi Android phones will not be available in the US market as it takes “an incredible amount of work” to introduce several complicated technology devices.

Android phones, the four-year-old startup, have occupied the No. 3 spot, making Xiaomi the world’s biggest smartphone maker after Apple and Samsung.

“We might try things in small volumes and see how it goes. We’ll actually gain a lot of experience from selling these products here because we’ll get a lot of feedback that will actually be globally relevant for us,” said Barra.

Xiaomi enjoy a good reputation among its solid customer base as the company encourage its every consumer to provide with their valuable feedback about the area of improvements and required features they wish to see in the products.  With its US entry, the company is also hoping to gather quality feedbacks from tech-savvy Americans, who are believed to be holding high standards for products that they are buying.

“The American consumers are expected to be the most demanding consumer, with the most informed opinions of anyone anywhere in the world as well as have the highest quality bar,” Barra said.

“One of the important reasons why we want to be here is that we want to enter that feedback loop. We want to know what they think about our products so that we could improve our products,” he added.

Barra did not provide exact details about they are actually going to introduce Xiaomi smartphones to the US consumers. Sources said that the Chinese company is still figuring out the ways it could clear the hurdles that might come their way in the highly demanding American market.
