This is the first time people managed to finish such a lengthy report. Creators needed data from 26 million galaxies for a comprehensive result.

Scientists have just performed an important step further into their mission to learn the mysteries of the outer space. There is a new map on Earth that tracks each point of dark matter throughout the Universe. These graphics can help scientists understand more of the elements that constitute such a powerful matter. On top of that, they hope to make progress in the study of another mysterious phenomenon namely dark energy.
Nobody has ever directly observed dark matter structures. At the moment, they are hypothetical theories that help scientists explain odd events in cosmology. For instance, the way the stars and galaxies move is a clear indication that there is more matter in the Universe than people might think. These constructs consist of invisible particles which were dubbed as black matter.
As for dark energy, there were two groups of astronomers in 1998 that noticed the Universe was expanding at accelerated speed instead of slowing down. Therefore, scientists speculated the source of this velocity was dark energy.
The Map Confirmed the Theory that Describes the Elements of the Universe
The groundbreaking map of dark matter structures is the result of the Dark Energy Survey that originates from 2004. There are 400 scientists in seven countries who enrich the database with pictures of galaxies taken from the Blanco telescope in Chile. At the moment, the collection comprises of 26 million galaxies. Some of them are even eight-billion light-years away from us.
The findings support a theory that lies at the foundation of cosmology. This means that the Universe truly consists of 4% common matter, 26% dark matter, and 70% dark energy.
