Deltona: Man Fatally Shoots His Brother's Attacker

A man fatally shot his brother’s attacker in Deltona yesterday evening. He allegedly did this to save his brother who was being threatened with a knife.

The victim was identified as Elvis Valentine, a 36 year old man and the shooter was 29 year old Nestor Ramos.

According to the information provided by the police, Nestor Ramos heard an raised voices outside his house, he went out to see what was happening.

When he got outside, he heard Valentine accusing his brother, John, that he had driven his can on the man’s property. Then, when Valentine raised a knife at his brother, Nestor Ramos took his out his gun and decided to intervene, in order to save John/

Since he saw no other option at that time, he fired his gun at Valentin and the man fell to the ground. He eventually died because of his injuries.

“As he walked outside, Nestor saw Valentin was holding a large knife and had it raised as he approached John”, was included in a statement made by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

After the shooting, it is the investigator’s opinion that Nestor Ramos has suffered an anxiety attack, as the event clearly affected him extensively.

Therefore, he was immediately transported to the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial from Orange City, so that he may be examined by medical specialists and so that he may receive the proper care.

He will most likely be taken into custody after he is released from the hospital, but the man is not denying his acts, which will prove to be of great help in his case.

His brother, John Ramos was not injured in this unfortunate event. He will be of great support to his brother for the following period.

At present time, Nestor Ramos has not been charged with any criminal offense. The investigation is currently underway , and the entire body of evidence, along with the different whiteness statements will have to be considered before any kind of criminal charges can be issued.

It remains to be seen what legal consequence Nestor Ramos will have to face after for his acts. He will have to be cleared by the medical professionals beforehand and the police will have to complete their investigation.
