Google has been handling the educational environment with special care in the last years. It encouraged a computer and tablet production of less than $200. In addition, the company created many tools and features with students in mind. Their Chrome OS is the perfect cloud operating system for a group of persons to share their work and form a strong digital community. As of recently, Microsoft opened the race for schools and is on its way to dethrone Chromebooks with competitive offers.
During the Bett Show in London, which is a famous technology tradeshow focused mainly on the educational world, Microsoft came up with different solutions for schools. The tech giant brought into limelight 10 PCs based on Windows 10 from its OEM partners. The prices are also targeting this educational market, as they revealed to be a little under a budget of $200. Moreover, Microsoft presented a fresh version of Intune with a focus on an environment where users share their work with ease.
The lowest prices start at $189 with notebooks such as Stream 11 Pro G3 from HP. These are specially created for the Education sector, and their 11.6inch screens offer a versatile experience. The processor is an Intel Celeron, and it can run on Windows 10 Pro. For something around $289, educational institutions can go for an HP ProBook x360 11 Education Edition notebook. The Hewlett-Packard Company claims that this product is the thinnest yet most convertible computer in the world. The notebook comes with its own stylus, and if the order includes the Corning Gorilla Glass protection, one unit can resist to any drops of 30 inches.
There are other appealing, intuitive devices with which Microsoft hopes to dethrone Chromebooks. However, the vice president of Windows and Devices Group from Microsoft, Yusuf Mehdi, is of the opinion that an advanced device cannot make up for lack of management. This is why the company introduced a new product, namely the Intune for Education.
This management platform is a cloud-based software that helps teachers provide personalized support for their students. The product is able to help not only a classroom but also an entire school district. What it does is to allow any authority play the IT specialist role. This way, teachers can set up Windows 10 devices in a matter of minutes. Moreover, they can easily supervise shared devices.
