DJI’s first flagship store has been unveiled for drone aficionados, the hugely successful company has recently announced in a press release issued on Sunday, December 20.
DJI, a Chinese tech company based in Shenzhen, China, has become world-famous because of its expertise in developing UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) which can be used for commercial or entertainment purposes, in order to capture breathtaking aerial images and videos.
Now, the world’s undisputed leader in drone technology has launched its first retail shop, located at the Shenzen Tourist Information Center from OCT Bay (Happy Harbor) , right in the heart of Shenzhen’s business district.
The store’s aesthetics are guided by “yuan” (a Chinese word meaning “circle” or “round shape”), several design elements having this particular outline, reminiscent of DJI’s own two-blade propellers as they rapidly swirl in the sky.
The flagship facility extends across 8,600 square feet, and aside from the fact that it will feature a wide variety of products immediately available for sale, it also promises visitors a uniquely interactive experience with drones.
More precisely, shoppers will be able to marvel at the latest models of unmanned aerial vehicles, alongside already-established, iconic ones.
For instance, some of the products prominently featured on the store’s shelves will include the Phantom 3 series of advanced, professional and standard quadcopters, the Spreading Wings pro systems and the Inspire 1 flying platform.
There will also be tools for developers (Guidance and Matrice 100), Ronin handheld systems and even Osmo, the company’s 4K camera coupled with a 3-axis gimbal for excellent image stabilization.
In addition, customers will be able to examine the fascinating gadgets so as to better understand their mechanisms, while benefiting from in-depth information and advice from knowledgeable staff.
The store allows those who are passionate about technology to keep themselves up to date regarding state-of-the-art UAV designs, by exploring DJI’s main achievements. It also gives them a taste of the future, by making them more familiar with the company’s upcoming projects.
According to Frank Wang, DJI’s chief executive officer and founder, the aim is to transform the shop into the ultimate drone intelligence hub, where experts and amateurs alike can meet and share their own know-how and wisdom as far as this emerging field is concerned.
As a result, the store has been designed to include several other elements aside from its traditional shopping area. For instance, there is a small movie theater, where exquisite aerial photography and film taken thanks to drones from all across the globe can be viewed by guests, as part of an incredibly immersive show.
Similarly, the shop also has an interactive section called SkyPixel Around the world, with other footage captured by UAVs.
Moreover, there is a flight area where staff will carry out demonstrations for visitors, so as to allow them to understand how drones can be operated safely and accurately.
The repair counter has been especially created for those requiring technical support and troubleshooting for their malfunctioning devices, and last but not least the retail location also boasts a lounge area, meant to stimulate discussions and provide visitors with ideal networking opportunities.
For those who will get the chance to visit the DJI store, it must be noted that business hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 10 p.m., from Sunday till Thursday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
