Until recently, gamers had only to hope that they would receive the most coveted assets in their favorite game sometime in this lifetime. However, thanks to new regulations imposed in China, they can discover the exact drop rates employed by Blizzard and other companies. Due to these changes in the industry, games such as Overwatch and Hearthstone had to reveal their drop rates for loot and cards respectively.
Players Have to Unlock an Average of 13.5 Loot Boxes to Get a Legendary Item in Overwatch
Due to new Chinese regulations, video game developers such as Blizzard Entertainment Inc were at risk of appearing as gambling businesses. To correct this false attribute, organizations were compelled to reveal their drop rates for digital in-game items. As a consequence, companies complied with the new rules. The Chinese version of Overwatch has already published these stats on its official website.
On average, users will receive with each unlocked or obtained supply box four items that can range from in-game currencies to ornaments. The quality of these offerings will vary, but there are some drop rates that they obey. Each box has to come with at least one excellent item or even higher level. Moreover, once every 5.5 boxes there will be at least one Epic asset. As for Legendary items, players will have to open at least 13.5 loot boxes to find such elements.
It Is Not Known If Same Drop Rates Apply in America and Europe
As for Hearthstone, the drop rates are similar to what players came to find on their own. Each card pack in the game will contain at least one rare item or of better quality. As for epic drops, they can appear once every five packs. As far as the much coveted legendary cards, their rate is one for each 20 packs.
However, it is still uncertain if these Chinese drop rates are the same as the ones in Europe and America. For the moment, China is the only country that applied regularizations for in-game loot boxes.
