Therefore, starting with Thursday, July the 9th, iPhone and iPad users might have already noticed a few changes regarding the posts displayed on their News Feed.
Basically, this is a new tool that helps users prioritize what they see first. Even if this may come as great news for some of us, there is a category of users that might hate the idea. This includes people or businesses that use the social media for marketing purposes.
However, representatives of the company have already confirmed that changes are going to be made in terms of News Feed Preferences. This tool is going to expand considerably, giving us the opportunity to select the friends and pages we want to see at the top of our News Feed.
A video was also posted to help us better understand how all this updated tool works. While the feature was available until now, it seems that it will no longer be based on algorithms that were designed to determine what categories are the most interesting to us and what we would like to see first in our News Feed.
With the improved tool, you will be able to select various Facebook pages of blogs or online publications and they will be turned into a news reader by the News Feed. You can turn it into a shopping site as well, once you’ve added your favorite e-commerce platforms or fashion brands.
However, it is estimated that people will only add a few of their favorite brands and these will have priority over others. This means bad business for other minor brands that will not be able to capture the users’ attention unless they scroll down further to see what is going on in other sectors. Thus, News Feed might stop being a marketing tool once this feature kicks in.
While the California-based company announced that it will be available on iOS for now, they also said that they are planning to implement it on Android and desktop systems as well very soon, so that everyone can benefit from it.
