Dark Souls III had a fiery debut, surpassing the success of the previous installments of the franchise. Non-surprisingly, the game is as difficult as ever, tormenting players by making them repeatedly die in diverse ways.
During the first two games of the Dark Souls series, the main character could still be called human because of his vulnerabilities. However, From Software has designed him in such a way also to empower him to carry on in spite of the horrors he has to face. Therefore, the first two installments were focused on his struggle to save what was left of humanity from the terrible fate that awaited the world.
Players had to preserve every little ounce of what made them human when battling monsters taken straight out of their most disturbing nightmares. However, in Dark Souls III sets a different tone to both the narrative and the gameplay. You now control an Unkindled, not an Undead. Even though the Ashen One might sound as terrific as the other bosses you had to face in the other games, you will still continue to die a lot in the third part of the franchise.
In Dark Souls III you must find five Lords of Cinder set to help you re-enact the kindle of the first flames in history. Unfortunately, you will encounter lots of trouble while searching for Younger Prince Lothric, Yhorm the Giant, Abys Watchers, Aldrich, the Devourer of Gods and Ludleth of Courtland.
Even though you might consider crippled Ludleth easy because of his understanding of the disaster caused if the flames go out, the other are extremely tough. They all have different fighting tactics, from hitting hard from the very beginning to tiring you out or simply changing their tactics in the middle of the battle. This stays the same as in previous games, so expect to record quite a lot of deaths.
However, From Software outdid themselves when building the city of Lothric, which the players must cross in order to find the Lords of Cinder to be able to rekindle the dwindling flames. Some of you might even stumble across several Easter eggs from previous games. For instance, the fact that you rang the Bell of Awakening has put the Lords of Cinder out of their sleep, so now you must solve the mess you started in the first place.
