Fully-clothed Playboy App Offers Safe For Work Entertainment

There’s a brand new Playboy app out there that is completely safe for work. The new mobile version of the famous men’s magazine addresses the people who actually do read it for the articles, because it offers nothing more than that.

All clothes are on when it comes to the “Playboy Now” app, that is intended to keep the magazine’s fans company at work and on their way home, where the full disclosure version would be deemed inappropriate.

It is actually a very entertaining and lively app, that offers Buzzfeed-type news and all kinds of amusing articles on fun facts about day to day things. This makes it the perfect app to use on your way home from work, on a bus or on a train.

The management of the magazine realized that while their website was doing very well, with 19 million visitors each month, there was a specific timeline when the number of viewer would plummet abruptly. Obviously, this was because of the fact that nude pictures are not allowed in the vast majority of workplaces.

Therefore, taking into consideration that most of their viewers were using their mobile phones to access the site, Playboy decided to create this squeaky clean app, that regulars can use while on duty.

Vice president Phillip Morelock said : “We have a very engaged audience on mobile and about three-fourths comes after 4 pm. So we are building this optimized experience for these guys who are coming back every day and there are millions of them”.

So if you’re in the mood for something light and catchy, then “Playboy Now” is the app for you. And as proof that there is no catch, and that there is no chance for a nude picture to pop up and embarrass you in front of your co-workers or that vigilant lady on the train who keeps looking at your phone, the app was approved by iTunes, which is famous for its strict policy on nudity content.

This well-behaved app is actually part of Playboy’s current rebranding strategy that aims to separate the Playboy bunnies and the Playmates from the rest of the articles.

These two features of the magazine will be regrouped into two separate sites. Playboy.com, that is the website version of the Playboy Now app, is going to be free and fully clothed, while the Playmates.com website will focus on everything else than the articles and will require viewers to pay a subscription.

Journalistic times are changing, and Playboy is turning a new leaf to keep up with the current. However, it is keeping all of the playful features that have made it the world-wide phenomenon it is today, but it is also putting more emphasis on the “just for the articles” part of the magazine.
