Republican leader Mike Huckabee, a potential candidate for US presidential election in 2016, has taken potshots at US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, accusing them of adopting double standards in parenting their kids.
Huckabee said that America’s first family has double standards in sheltering its daughters from some things and yet allowing them to listen to racy singer Beyonce.
“I don’t understand how on one hand they can be such doting parents and so careful about the intake of everything – how much broccoli they eat and where they go to school – and yet they don’t see anything that might not be suitable in Beyonce’s lyrics,” the former Baptist pastor said while promoting his new book.
59-year-old former Arkansas governor said that the choreography of Beyonce was “best left for the privacy of her bedroom”.
In his book, Huckabee described the lyrics of Grammy Award-winning singing icon as “obnoxious and toxic mental poison”.
He also accused rapper Jay-Z, Beyonce’s husband, of “exploiting his wife like a pimp”.
Meanwhile, the president’s office declined to issue any comment on Huckabee’s remarks.
The singing sensation Beyonce had sung for Obama twice- firstly at his second inauguration and secondly of the president’s 50th birthday party at the White House.
President Obama had also expressed his gratitude to Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z for their friendship, saying: “Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls.”
