These are truly grim days for gaming, as the highly anticipated “Silent Hills” loses all hope for production. This news came as a shock to Hollywood writer/director Guillermo del Toro, who has his own spooky view of the project ready and waiting. He was left heartbroken after the game’s sudden demise and strongly supports the fans’ online petition for reviving it.
This was the second time that film maker del Toro was involved in a game project and also the second time that it turned out to be nothing more than a tease. Despite his first letdown with “InSane”, he was overwhelmingly excited and honored to be able to put his own mark on the Silent Hill franchise. This is most definitely an opportunity that any horror film maker dreams of.
And Guillermo del Toro was doing an awesome job at it, as all the game’s fans have fallen in love with the new chapter of the franchise when the PT (playable trailer) came out. They could clearly feel his unique influence on the project and it was all kinds of goose-bumpy delicious.
The game featured a beloved horror film veteran playing its lead character, namely “The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus. The team that Del Toro, Reedus and the amazing Hideo Kojima formed was clearly destined for greatness.
Their chemistry was so effortlessly fascinating and they all got along so well with each other, that a powerful friendship began to form the first days of the project. And now that their common endeavor has come to such an abrupt end, they are all left wondering what could have been.
“Hideo and I have been in touch,” Guillermo del Toro said in an interview .”And he knows he would be the only guy I would follow to the ends of the Earth on anything. “
Furthermore, he said that if there is any part of the project that is salvageable, he has every intention to take part in it and that he would be more than happy to do so. This brought the fans to tears, as they are so happy to have such a powerful ally as the great Guillermo del Toro himself fighting alongside them to salvage this marvelous game.
If you’re already hearing the heroic battle soundtrack in your head right now, then it is time that you start fighting for this noble quest by making your cause as visible as possible. Moreover, you can sign the online petition, that is bound to show “Silent Hills'” production company, Konami, that the game is worth saving.
Tweet it, hashtag it, Instagram it, because every bit of public exposure matters and who knows, maybe it just might do the trick. Despite the fact that big-time production companies are extremely difficult to sway in their business decisions, “Silent Hills” completely deserves every fan’s implication.
Even if it might not bring “Silent Hills” back, it will definitely make a difference to the heartbroken Guillermo del Toro. After this second bitter disappointment, he said that he is leaving the world of gaming for good. But the love of the fans might be what he needs for his enthusiasm to be reignited.
Until there is new word about “Silent Hills”, the fans can look forward to going to the cinema this fall to see del Toro’s mystically delightful “Crimson Peak”, staring the lovely Jessica Chastain, the enigmatic Mia Wasikowska and sweetheart Tom Hiddleston. For a bit of consolation, take a look at the trailer and rest assured that this is not the last you’ll be hearing about either Sillent Hill or Guillermo del Toro.
