Three passengers onboard a small plane were killed along with the pilot when the jet crashed in Kentucky late Friday, the state police officials said.
The Kentucky State Police said that while the death toll in the unfortunate incident was four, a seven-year-old girl child was found miraculously escaping the crash. The young girl apparently survived the tragic incident and was found wandering from the wreckage to find help, the state police added.
According to the authorities, the tragic incident took place when the small plane went down in a heavily wooded area in Lyon County, which is nearly 115 miles northwest of Nashville.
The police received a call from a Lyon County resident at 911 helpline number informing them about a 7-year-old ” who had walked to his home reporting that she had been involved in a plane crash,” according to a police statement posted on Facebook.
In the statement, the authorities said, “The juvenile was in distress and was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.”
The authorities have yet not revealed the identities of the victims.
The wreckage of the plane, which was carrying five including the pilot, was discovered in a wooded area by the rescue team.
The police also said that the Memphis Center of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that they had received a distress call from a private aircraft on Friday from the vicinity of the reported crash.
Meanwhile, the police is investigating the actual cause of the crash.
