Perhaps what is unfortunately unsurprising for some fans, Mighty No. 9 is delayed until spring of this year, as the problems still persisted. For anyone who is done with keeping track, this is the third announcement made by the developers that spoke of postponing the release date.
Keiji Inafune brought forth the Mighty No. 9 game over Kickstarter, gaining in major support for the classic Japanese side-scrolling action game. In fact, the title has over 67,000 backers and raised over $3.8 million that the developers have put to the video game’s production. Eager players were waiting for the game to finally launch early this year, but it appears it won’t be so.
The title’s official release date was initially placed in April 2015. Recent promises claimed that there will no more delays, and yet here we are again. Inafune expressed his sincerest apologies to backers, gamers, and anyone else who is disappointed by the news. However, issues related to multiple platforms, scale, and network modes still seem to be the problem. That is why those supporting the Kickstarter campaign have waited for over half a year.
According to Inafune, they have been working relentlessly to fix the issue since the beginning of the year. The development staff worked “non-stop” in order for Might No. 9 to show its potential on February 9th, 2016. However, it appears that they have been forced to push back the date once again. In fact, it’s only due to the rigorous efforts of the development team that there is an end in sight to their problems.
The issues have been also sparked by the game’s engine, which will not be receiving any more updates. That means that the development staff are required to make all modifications manually, for every single platform. It puts a strain on the development process, which has also added to the additional delays.
For now though, there is no specific end in sight. The only deadline offered was spring of 2016. The vagueness was set for the purpose of setting in a “realistic goal” in mind, as well as avoiding future disappointments. It’s best to surprise fans with an early release, rather than set a date that they will not keep. Though, at this point, it will be a true surprise if the new date sticks.
Inafune assures that they are all working hard to make sure they can finish and release the game in the coming months. Once more, he apologized for himself and on the part of the development team.
