Google has recently announced that the most popular video streaming website, YouTube, will be launching a new version of its service specially for kids.

The list of TV shows includes the popular Sesame Street and kids’ favorite Thomas the Tank Engine.
Also, the app will feature content from various channels that are on YouTube has, channels that are approved for children view.

According to a screenshot of the new app, YouTube for kids will feature programs like Mother Goose Club and Reading Rainbow, among others.

According to official sources, the new app will be free and it will be separate from the regular YouTube mobile app.
It will also come with a new kids-friendly design, including special icons and a minimal way of scrolling through the application.

Also, YouTube app for kids will include some features for parents, like a timer they can set in order to limit the time their kids are supposed to watch videos.
When the new app will be launched, it will only be available for Google Android mobile operating system. The app will not be available for Apple’s iPad for now.

The YouTube app for kids will make its first appearance next Monday at a conference called Kidscreen Summit, which is a conference about the entertainment industry designed for children.
For its new app, Google will have to agree be compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. This act is overseen by the Federal Trade Commission.

Also, the new app will have to comply with some other COPPA rules since websites that are designed for kids must notify the parents should they collect any personal information.
No one knows whether YouTube will generate any profit with the new kids app, and also, whether the content partners will make any money out of it.

Sources say that YouTube will be paying for the original shows that will feature on the app, so it will most likely generate its revenue from displaying ads.
