US President Barack Obama is suffering from acid reflux, said his physician after analyzing his medical test reports.
The President has undergone several medical tests on Saturday after he complained of a sore throat.
“The President’s symptoms are consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux and will be treated accordingly,” Captain Ronny Jackson, Obama’s doctor, said in a statement.
Acid reflux is a health condition during which the patient feels symptoms like heartburn and sore throat as the contents from the stomach flow back up from the stomach into the esophagus.
The 53-year-old American President got his fiber optic test at the Walter Reed military hospital complaining of his throat.
According to Jackson, the doctors decided to perform a CT scan after swelling was detected.
“The CT scan was conducted this afternoon purely as a matter of convenience for the President’s schedule. The CT scan was normal,” Jackson said.
However, Jackson has not revealed any distinct cause for the President’s case of the illness. But experts at the US National Library of Medicine say there are many risk factors that can result into acid reflux, such as smoking, alcohol consumption and hiatal hernia.
Obama undergoes his annual physical examination in June. This June, the doctors had given him a clean bill of health. The President used to smoke in past.
