Parents Punish Their Daughter To Live In The Woods For Eating Pop-Tart

The reason behind the cruel punishment was the fact that the 14-year-old girl ate a pop-tart without her parents’ permission.

Two parents living in South California forced their daughter to live in a tent in the woods. The reason behind this punishment was the fact that the 14-year-old girl ate a pop-tart without her parents’ permission.

The parents were identified as Crystal Driggers (36) and James Driggers (33). They were living in Sumter County. On Tuesday the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office reported that couple did not allow the child to enter inside the house for two days. Moreover she was supposed to stay out of the house for a whole week.  They only gave the girl a watch, a whistle, a flashlight and a roll of toilet paper. In order to receive food the girl was supposed to meet with somebody at a certain time near a fence.

The tent was a quarter of a mile from the family’s house, in a wooden region known to have wild hogs. It seems that one afternoon the girl’s brother brought her a can of Spaghetti-Os and a plastic spoon. The girl also had to deal with severe thunderstorms which affected the town Thursday night.

When she heard that the child was left outside her grandmother informed the police on Thursday. After the police spoke to her parents the child was brought back inside, but afterwards sent outside again. The police found out about this on Friday. In addition they also discovered that in the previous month the parents sent their daughter away from home at 8 a.m. and prohibited her to return before 6 p.m. According to Braden Bunch, a police spokesman, the girl was not allowed to return for any reason, not even to use the bathroom or to get something to drink.

It seems that the girl was previously punished for eating a protein bar. As a punishment her mother took her to the salon where she had her hair cut short. The couple has other five children who are now in the custody of their grandparents. The 14-year-old girl is in the custody of the South Carolina Department of Social Services. The parents were charged with a count of unlawful neglect of child but the investigation continues and they might receive more charges.   The parents are bodybuilder in South California and the mother is a coach with the Beachbody home fitness program.
