Pope Francis pledges for checking climate change, calls for global action

With his actions truly committed for a better world, Pope Francis has become the man of many dimensions in real sense.

Since assuming the sacred post, Pope Francis has become a powerful and influential man both inside as well as outside the Catholic Church.

The Pope has decided to take the climate change mission in 2015 in an attempt to create awareness among the people about the degrading climatic condition amid the global warming.

He revealed his mind during his series of speeches and summit appearances.

Bishop Marcelo Sorondo, the chancellor of Pontifical Academy of Sciences in Vatican, said that Pope Francis wished to be directly involved with the UN climate conference in Paris, which will take place in 2015. The meeting of the world leaders has been convened by the United Nations in order to take some stringent measures and draft stern policies for securing the health of planet in the future.

“The idea is to convene a meeting with leaders of the main religions to make all people aware of the state of our climate and the tragedy of social exclusion,” reported Observer while quoting Sorondo.

“Just as humanity confronted revolutionary change in the 19th century at the time of industrialisation, today we have changed the natural environment so much. If current trends continue, the century will witness unprecedented climate change and destruction of the ecosystem with tragic consequences,” Sorondo had said at a meeting of Cafod, the Catholic development agency, in London.

The Pope had expressed concerns over the issue of climate change during the United Nations summit assembly in Lima Peru. In that UN meeting, the member countries had agreed to draft a document for the climate talks scheduled next year in Paris.
