On Tuesday Immigration and Customs Enforcement declared that Keane Dean was freed on an immigration bond. The man was charged with sex crimes against a 14-year-old girl from California. He is a registered sex offender who was in deportation proceedings. In October 2014 Keane dean (26) was placed in immigration detention. Before that he served time for indecent exposure and burglary. It seems that he was released in April when an immigration judge granted him a $10,000 bond.
Keane Dean has been in the register of sex offenders since 2008 when he exposed himself in a Glendale mall. He inappropriately touched himself in the department store Macy’s. The man was banned from the Glendale Galleria shopping center after he was arrested.
On Wednesday the missing teenager was found in his garage in Los Angeles County and Keane Dean was arrested and a charge of oral copulation with a minor. The man pleaded not guilty to the two felony sex charges. The girl was reported missing on Tuesday by her parents who got worried because the girl did not return home. Investigators checked the girl’s phone and dialed a number which they found in the missing call log. Dean was the one who answered the phone, but he refused to reveal where the girl was. Deputies went to search for him at the house he shares with his parents in Sycamore Drive in Saugus (California).
The girl was found shortly after 2 a.m. when the investigator checked the garage. According to the victim on Monday she met Keane Dean when she was in Albertson’s supermarket. The following day they met again and Dean complimented the girl telling her that she was pretty. After they exchanged telephone numbers the two of them met later that night. Dean took the girl from her home and went to the garage where he sexually assaulted her.
The revelation that Dean is in deportation proceedings comes right after Katheryn Steinle’s family has urged Congress to take measures regarding laws which allow suspects to remain in the US. Katheryn Steinle was shot in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant while she was walking on a pier. However in this case most immigration detainees in Southern California require a bond hearing after six months so Keane Dean was released based on a different mechanism than the one applies in San Francisco.
