Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has recently revealed some of his ideas for the company during a very interesting question and answer session that he hosted online on Tuesday.
Even if these ideas might seem a bit too out there to the ordinary mind, futurists and scientists seem to agree with the co-founder of the largest social network in the world.
“One day, I believe we’ll be able to send full rich thoughts to each other directly using technology. You’ll just be able to think of something and your friends will immediately be able to experience it too if you’d like. This would be the ultimate communication technology, ” explained Zuckerberg.
Technology has advanced so much that a decade ago we wouldn’t have imagined we would be able to do what we are doing now. This is why such ideas might not be impossible after all, given the fact that some of the tools are already available.
Moreover, this is not something Zuckerberg came up with on the spot to impress the other users. It was revealed that there are scientists working for Facebook that are actually striving to find solutions to introduce telepathy, artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual reality in the social media.
Mark Zuckerberg explains that we will be able to speak to one another just by using our minds and it is not entirely impossible, because the technology is already going in that direction, with the development of computers and smartphones. It is just a matter of time before it leaps to the next level.
He is not alone in his visionary future that right now seems idealistic to many of us. Ray Kurzweil, who is a computer scientists has an even more extraordinary vision, saying that in the future people will be able to connect their minds to the clouds and use very small DNA robots to communicate with the others.
Zuckerberg recently proved that Facebook is already working hard to implement artificial intelligence. The director of the company’s AI research, Yann LeCunn says that artificial intelligence technology is already available to us and it exists in ATM machines or in face recognition of Facebook.
Facebook’s CEO hopes that the research will eventually result in a computer that is able to recognize everything in images and videos and describe them in English.
Another goal Zuckerberg has set is to make Facebook available even for people who don’t have access to wireless networks. The company has already developed laser communication systems which basically have internet beaming from the sky, as they are attached to drones.
It is safe to say that the future of the social network sounds bright and we are about to witness incredible things, as Facebook will become more than just a social network.
