Americans are all set to shop this Thanksgiving Day. But from where to buy is the most obvious question coming to everyone’s mind.
Many retailers are offering awesome deals and incredible bargaining opportunity for the customers, but there are many which have chosen to shut down their shops for the buyers.
Among those which will keep their stores open on Thanksgiving Day include: WalMart, Target, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Toys R Us and Kmart.
According to them, the decision of opening their stores on the famous American holiday is part of the competition game. Thanksgiving day is one of the most important occasions when buyers turn up in large numbers to shop for as many things as they can. High turnout of buyers will have a great impact on the sales and no company wants to miss this incredible opportunity.
“It’s absolutely appropriate that we open at 6 pm [on Thursday],” WalMart’s US CEO said while defending the practice that has been condemned widely.
Howard Feller, a Partner at MMG Advisors, said, “Ultimately, if you look over the course of the holiday selling season, the fact the stores are opening on Thanksgiving as opposed to Black Friday doesn’t lead to increased sales.”
MMG Advisors is an investment bank that specializes in retail and fashion.
Analysts say opening a retail store is an expensive business and addition of more workers to tackle the big crowd on Thanksgiving Day can cut into margins.
On top of that, there are huge buyer population who are shopping online and the top brands have range of deals all week to lure the shoppers.
