Every now and then all of us experience some sleeping problems. No matter if it is insomnia or you just can’t wake up in the morning, your sleep pattern is affected. You feel more tired after this and you can’t concentrate.
One of the things that can reset your internal clock is a weekend camping. Researchers found out that a weekend camping can be the best solution for sleeping problems. They said that the things that affect our sleep include smartphones, laptops, and technology in general.
The researchers mentioned that a weekend camping can make you forget all the stress that you have accumulated over time. This way your internal clock can be reset and you won’t have trouble sleeping anymore.
This study was conducted by researchers from the University of Colorado-Boulder. They discovered that the factor that causes us to change our sleep pattern is the electric lighting. They said that everything from watching TV to playing games on the computer affects our sleep.
The researchers observed that the modern lifestyle is making our internal clock switch from normal to abnormal. The researchers mentioned that the electric lightning can actually delay our internal clock with an hour or two.
Winter is also the season when we tend to use more electric lightening. This is because the night is longer and the natural light is less seen compared to other seasons. Maybe this is the reason why people sleep less in the summer.
The researchers focused on this topic because they also discovered that sleeping late or having insomnia can affect our health also. Sleep is important for our brain and body because it helps us relax and regain strength for the next day.
“Late circadian and sleep timing in modern society are associated with negative performance and health outcomes such as morning sleepiness and accidents, reduced work productivity and school performance, substance abuse, mood disorders, diabetes, and obesity,” mentioned the author of the study.
In order to complete this study, the team of researchers sent people camping in winters and summers. None of the participants were able to bring any light or smartphone with them on the camping trip.
The results showed that a weekend camping is a great remedy for sleeping problems. The researchers noticed that camping during winter can be better for the sleeping problems. This research was published in the journal Current Biology.
