According to Apple Insider, Apple has purchased the patent to a new high-tech keyboard that can supplement the uses of a mouse, a regular typing keyboard and a touchscreen. This makes it perfect for the ingenious Apple product line that we all know and love.
Just picture this iconic Apple-white shiny keyboard, that will enable computer buffs to operate much faster than ever before. One of its main features is its ability to separately comprehend the commands coming from both the left and right hand, and then implement them simultaneously, thus rendering tremendous speed to its user.
Furthermore, the keys on this new device will have two or three features. These separate features will be selected by depressing the key to the first, second and third level, each of which is capable of placing a separate command.
All the keys will permit typing at the first level of touch. Then, when pressed to the second level, they will offer a completely different command, that is similar to a mouse click, because it will make it possible to perform actual click-based commands.
The third level of the key will render all the touch sensitive commands like zooming in and out, moving the cursor on the screen or scrolling.
The exact distribution of different keys with their different features remains to be established further in the development process, in accordance to future technical research based on the most common correlation between the use of these features and the accessibility that needs to be provided for each one of them.
The novelty of this type of keyboard is that it will lack a touch-pad, like the one regularly found on a laptop, because all the clicking features will be established through the use of the actual keys.
Furthermore, it will prove much more useful than the touch-pad on a laptop and even the new and improved version available on the Mac keyboard, because this new “feature keyboard” will be able to implement commands coming from both hands simultaneously.
While this high-tech keyboard seems to be perfectly in line with the Apple brand, it is not yes sure that the “feature keyboard” will ever make it to an Apple store near you. The purchase of the patent does not ensure that the company will ever mass-produce the prototype.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if this amazing keyboard will ever become reality. But if it does, it has all the chances to become a true keyboard of tomorrow, rendering all the similar products obsolete.
