Baby Born The Second Time After Emergency Procedure

Mother and child

A baby was born the second time after an emergency procedure.

A baby girl from North Texas was born for the second time, in June. The first time doctors removed the baby from the womb was in March, when an emergency procedure saved her life. The mother of the girl said that her baby is a fighter.

The whole story started in January when a tumor larger than the infant was discovered. The tumor was stealing her blood supply and the baby was supposed to die before being born. The mother was having a usual control when the doctors discovered the tumor which was a major threat to the future child.

They went to a lot of doctors who told them to end the pregnancy because the procedure is too dangerous. However, the doctors from the Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, agreed to perform the surgery.  That was the best news the parent could have gotten. They did not want to end the pregnancy and they wanted to do their best while tiring to save their child.

In the 23rd week of pregnancy, the doctors performed the emergency procedure. They made an incision in Margaret’s uterus and pulled out the little girl from her legs. They wanted to remove as much of the tumor as they could. The surgery lasted for five hours. The baby’s heart stopped and she needed a blood transfusion. The mother was also in danger and she could have died. However, the managed to live and the emergency procedure worked.

It was not easy for the couple. The wife had to stay in bed for the rest of the pregnancy. She lived with her mother because it was only ten minutes away from the hospital. Her husband had to stay in Lewisville because he was working and they have other three children. Moreover, the mother lost other two babies. This is why they wanted to save the baby girl no matter how difficult it could have been.

The baby was born at 36 weeks. Doctors had to remove a part of the tumor because they did not manage to take it all out in the first surgery. The baby is supposed to have surgeries because she was affected by the tumor.  She will also need regular tests at the hospitals.

It was not easy for the parents, but they managed to accomplish their goal. The emergency procedure was not covered by the health insurance and they spend a lot of money on the surgery.
