Former New York Governor Mario M. Cuomo has been hospitalized on complaints of a heart-related problem, the authorities said on Saturday.
In a released statement on Saturday, the office of New York’s current Governor Andrew Cuomo said, “He is in good spirits and thanks everyone for their support and best wishes.”
Mario Cuomo was sent to a hospital in Manhattan a few days after the mid-term elections on November 4, said a spokesperson for the current Governor.
Andrew’s office denied to name the hospital and furnish more details about the former governor. Mario looked very frail when he made the public appearance at Andrew’s victory party celebrating his re-election to a second term on November 4.
The spokesperson added that Andrew, who is the son of Mario Cuomo, had spent quality time with his father in the hospital on Thanksgiving.
The octogenarian leader has served three terms as governor of New York between 1983 and 1994.
During his address at the party, Andrew lauded his father’s political contribution to the country and named him as “the father of the modern Democratic Party, a man who is all about principle and inspiration.”
