Study Shows Apple Has The Best Heart Rate Tracker

Apple Smart Watch

Apple has the best heart rate tracker on the market.

Researchers from the Cleveland Clinic discovered that Apple Watch has the best heart rate tracker on the market.  Its competitors in the study were Fitbit Charge HR, Mio Alpha, and Basis Peak. According to the researchers, the heart rate tracker was efficient in 90 percent of the cases, while its competitors were right in less than 80 percent of the participants.

Researchers used data from 50 subjects, who were connected to an electrocardiogram. They were tested when they run, walked and stayed.  Even though the results showed that these devices can be efficient, things changed at higher levels of physical activity. There were some which were not even able to work when the person was exercising for a long time.

This happens because smartwatches depend on optical sensors to measure the blood flow. When the device is moving, it is harder for it to be efficient. Even though Apple Watch had some issues during the study, it proved to be the best heart rate tracker among these devices.

Apple officials explained how their smartwatch app is working. They compare signal data from at least two light guides. Moreover, their special algorithms are able to resist changes and device motion.

They have improved a lot the technology regarding this issue that it can be considered a medical device. However, at the moment, Apple Watch is still seen as a consumer device. The situation could change as Apple seems to be more interested in the medical industry. The big company also said it will develop two new apps. One will be for tracking sleep and the other one to measure heart rate.

People begin to use health applications because it is easier for them and they feel more motivated. There were studies which proved that, on a long-term, these devices are not making us healthier. However, big companies are investing their research in developing more apps for our health.

Apple is one of the most famous companies in the world, with millions of products sold every year. Even so, some people would say Apple costumers are buying the brand and not an efficient product. This study proves that the big company is able to produce one of the best devices on the market. What do you think about the Apple heart rate tracker app? Is is better or do you enjoy using another device?
