The health department mentioned that somebody needs to be held responsible for this salmonella outbreak.
A Salmonella Outbreak sickened more than 75 people that were attending a private event. More than 10 of these people were taken to the hospital because they were in worse shape than the others. This salmonella outbreak happened at a wedding in Alabama. The Alabama Department of Public Health has officially confirmed that it was indeed a salmonella outbreak.
This unfortunate event happened this Saturday at a wedding reception where a caterer served green beans, mashed potatoes, and chicken. This information was revealed by the wedding guests that were hospitalized.
Dr. Karen Landers, a state health officer, mentioned that the guests are recovering and that because it was a private event it is not a threat to others who did not attend the event. Investigators need to wait for the results of the food samples. The human samples take less time to process than food samples.
The investigators need the results from the food samples in order to find exactly which one of the foods caused the salmonella outbreak. The health department did not identify the coock yet. The guests mentioned that the caterer was Indelible Catering.
The company is not preparing any other food at the moment, and is cooperating with this investigation. This is not the first time that this catering company has had this type of problems. Two years ago, at an event where they served food, people got sickened with salmonella and E. coli. Despite this, that outbreak was not linked to this caterer because there were other foods. At the time, the investigators were not able to test the food because they did not have any food samples available.
Salmonella is a dangerous bacterium that can cause a lot of harm to people. This bacterium is dangerous especially for children and older people because they are more sensitive. Once a person has salmonella they might experience diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
The health department mentioned that somebody needs to be held responsible for this salmonella outbreak. Nobody is accused at the time and the health department said that the salmonella outbreak could have been caused by anything. The health department will continue the investigation until it finds the culprit.
