Authorities have confirmed that the body found in Glenn County on Friday, the 29th of May is that of Jadianna Larsen, the 6-year-old girl of Sacramento, who had been reported missing since Thursday morning.
The little girl had last been seen in her home on 47th Avenue from Martin Luther King Jr. Village. Her mother’s boyfriend, Juan Rivera, aged 25, told the authorities that he last saw the girl at around 11 a.m..
He also reported that he had suffered a seizure and had passed out. When he woke up, Jadianna was not there, so he decided to alert the police.
Rivera told them that he has a seizure disorder and that he suffered from multiple seizures that lasted for nine hours before the child went missing. On Thursday evening he was feeling better when his mother dropped by to check on him. It was then when he realized Jadianna was gone, so both he and his mother started looking for the child before calling 911.
He is the main suspect in the murder of the 6-year-old child and has already been arrested. He is currently held at Sacramento County Jail, where he was brought on Saturday morning, without bail. He will appear in court on the 2nd of June. An official with the Sheriff’s Department said the man is also listed as a drug offender.
The body of the missing girl was found in a field in Glenn County, not far from County Road 33 and County Road D. The body was torched, according to the authorities.
The girl’s mother is not a suspect in the crime because she was not at home at the time of the murder. According to Sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa Bowman, she was being treated at a medical facility. Bowman did not mention what type of treatment she was undergoing.
However, it was clear that the girl’s mother had been away for a few days, leaving Jadianna in her boyfriend’s care.
The investigators are currently working to determine if the young child was murdered in Sacramento County or if the location of the crime is another one. This is important for them because they need to check if they have jurisdiction.
Jadianna’s death has prompted many of her neighbors who mourn her to bring flowers to the fence of the complex where she used to live. The opinions regarding the suspect for her murder vary greatly. Some say he was like a father to her, while others are convinced that he committed the crime.
